Poke cakes are one of the latest fads to hit the food scene. The concept is pretty simple, take a normal cake, mix or from scratch, bake it in a 13×9 cake pan and then after it is done, poke holes in it to add in the “special flavor,” in this case to give it a snickerdoodle treatment. The filling is just as simple, using simple instant vanilla for the pokes and it is all coated with a cinnamon buttercream to make a different and moist cake.
- This recipe uses simple cake ideas but adds fun with pudding and cinnamon frosting
- The small pokes or holes make the cake soft and moister than the recipe for the cake.
- The recipe book also has around 50 other poke cakes for you to try out.
“I should note that these recipes all begin with a boxed cake mix and are jazzed up from there. So if you’re not a fan of boxed cake mixes, this is probably not the book for you. But if you grab a box occasionally to make a quickie dessert, then this will be a fun book to have in your collection.”
